You will be 1 hour from either coast, close to clear water (uncrowded) springs, tubeing down the Ithetucknee River and so much Nature, your head will spin. Cottages have kitchens, so there is your next savings. Some of our cottages are pet friendly so no boarding Fido. Looking for a romantic getaway this Valentine’s Day? Come spend the night in one of Gainesville’s most romantic settings, the Magnolia Plantation Bed and Breakfast in Historic Gainesville. Located just a few blocks from downtown, guests can stroll or enjoy a carriage ride into downtown where a variety of locally owned restaurants and the Hippodrome State Theatre are set up for the perfect date night; a private candlelight dinner at the inn is also an option. The Magnolia Plantation Bed and Breakfast presents a cozy, lush, and romantic atmosphere in a Victorian setting with private cottages for you and your sweetheart, back splashed with gardens and waterfalls. Amenities include, but are not limited to, private Jacuzzi bathtubs and fireplaces, private courtyards and porches. Reservations made for February 14th, Valentine’s Day, guests will receive 10% off their entire stay.
A special tour of the inn and the 2 acre property will be given in the evenings from 5-7pm, February 13-15, where guests can view the Baird Mansion, and the various cottages surrounding it. This will be our 21st year of watching romantic’s plan the perfect way to show the one they love how important they are. Here are some of the most romantic idea’s from past guests!
~Sometimes less is more. Sure, a big bouquet of flower’s is nice but sometimes, just a rose on the pillow can make a bigger impression.
~If your already planning on getting a pet, surprise the one you love with a trip to the animal shelter or pet store. I had a guest buy a stuffed dog and brought it to the Inn the day before. He made a gift certificate saying “hi, I’m your new puppy until tomorrow when we go find the one who will shower you with real puppy kisses”.
~A scavanger hunt is always fun! A girl had her husband running all over town picking up clues. The last clue took him to her sister’s house where the sister blind folded him and brought him to the Inn where his wife was waiting with a picnic basket of food, a bottle of wine and a blanket. They found a spot in the yard by one of the fountains and set up their dinner. She decided the restaurants would be too crowded and all they really wanted to do was spend time enjoying each other’s company.
~ Show your silly side…buy balloons. Show your creative side….cook her dinner…
~ If you don’t have time during the actual holiday, you can always make a gift certificate. Give her a small gift or a part of the puzzle everyday for a week prior to the actual day. One guest had his wife open her suitcase and inside the suitcase was 5 envelopes that were numbered. Day one ~ pack your sexy nighty. The blue one that matches your eyes. Day two ~ pack your favorite fancy dress. Day three ~ (a small gift wrapped) make sure you bring this bubble bath with you. Day four ~ a gift certificate to her favorite store with a note (I’ll watch the kids tonight while you go buy yourself something special to pack. Day five~We are leaving work early tomorrow (Friday). I have already cleared it with your boss and your parents will be here to take care of the kids. He walked into her office carrying a single rose. Put her in the car and drove her to the Inn where there was a bottle of wine chilling and chocolate covered strawberries waiting. This guy put everyone else to shame that weekend.
~The proposal’s are always my favorite….but those will be told another time. Until then. Start thinking of unique idea’s to tell the person you love how important they are to you. If you need idea’s, give me a call…

I just had a cancellation for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage for this weekend, November 4th and 5th. It’s homecoming weekend and there are sure to be Gator Growl tickets and tickets to the game. Now is the time to grab your friends and come spend the weekend in Gainesville.
